Spring has sprung, and that means getting outdoors is a lot more tolerable here in Indiana than it usually is in the winter time. And for some of us the warmer weather affords a golden opportunity to spend time lavishing care upon our piece of the Earth. Whether we own a small lot in town, or many acres in the country, for many one’s own property is paradise. For those who love their homes and land, there’s nothing more satisfying or rewarding than creating a haven to nestle themselves in away from the bustle of life.

As Claude Brown reportedly said, “For where does one run to when he’s already in the promised land?”. For me, this is so true of my own little place in town. It’s a labor of love to work in the yard, pulling weeds, mowing the lawn, picking up sticks and otherwise just making an attempt to beautify my homesite. And, as much as I enjoy getting out to the plenteous cultural delights to be found in our splendid area of the world, more and more I find myself content to stay at home and toil in solitude with the ones I love.
